SCI Shared Resources LLC Corporate - Strategic Finance Manager in Houston, Texas

Overview & Responsibilities

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Strategic Finance department exists to provide analytical support for cash management activities within Treasury and to senior management for external and Board-related topics, as well as serving in an advisory role in the internal strategy creation process. The Strategic Finance Manager drives and serves as the process manager for the Trust Fund Income and Capital Structure processes. The role is a crucial part of this department, taking on the core analytical work on assigned topics and serving as a liaison to other departments from which this group needs assistance.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of Trust Fund Income and Capital Structure processes

  • Lead and Manage the company’s monthly recurring trust fund income reporting processes, including development of recommended forecast amounts to market returns, reporting on contract accruals by duration, and monthly variances – trust fund income comprises roughly 20% of our company-wide EBITDA on an annual basis;

  • Lead internal discussions on the company’s capital and debt structure, including quarterly calculations and recommendations on financing alternatives such as the timing and sizing of debt issuance;

  • Manage the process of calculations for the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) the company uses as a hurdle benchmark for acquisitions and investment returns.

Analytical Support

  • Develop recommendations and analytical support for various strategic questions raised by external or senior internal stakeholders, including highly sensitive topics on behalf of individual Officers or Board Members;

  • Create modeling to extend or augment existing business processes with a strategic impact to the company (e.g., forecasting);

  • Conduct research into department budget variances for the development of explanations and go-forward change recommendations.

Board of Director Materials/Department Vendor Relations

  • Create Board of Directors Meeting Materials that CFO and/or Treasurer present including capital deployment presentations, debt refinancing recommendations, etc. This process responsibility includes not only maintaining and updating parameters but also proposing new initiatives such as inclusions of leverage related section, etc.

  • Maintain and extend the department’s knowledge about and relationships with strategic vendors, including trust administration and investment management vendors;

  • Provide analytical support for high-level negotiations with the company’s strategic vendors and external relationships.

Cash Flow Analytics

  • Support and help enhance daily and monthly cash flow analytics function through interacting with key individuals in other departments.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education:

  • MBA or other advanced degree required

Certification/License:

  • CFA or other Finance-oriented designation with exposure to corporate finance principles is a plus

Experience:

  • Seven (7) years of advanced corporate finance or financial structuring experience

  • Experience with trust administration and/or investment management concepts and application preferred

  • Demonstrated complex modeling experience in an Excel environment (build, maintain, and operate)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Work Environment

  • Work indoors

  • Limited amount of local and/or multiple location traveling required

  • Professional Dress is required with the exception of company approved dress-down days. (Jean Day Fridays. etc)

  • Sitting continuously for many hours per day, up to 6 hours per day

Physical Demands

  • Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required, includes paperwork, calculators, computers and phone usage
