SCI Shared Resources LLC Corporate - Payroll Tax and Compliance Specialist in Houston, Texas
Overview & Responsibilities
Performs research to identify and clarify regulatory requirements affecting payroll recording, taxability, tax calculation, tax payment, tax reporting forms, and all means of electronic tax filing and data exchange.
Ensures the accuracy of all system settings for compliance to tax regulations and legislation.
Audits the accuracy of payroll tax filings.
Assist in the resolution of out of balance situations.
Subject matter expert for associate payroll tax issues.
Collaborates with taxing agencies and proposes solutions for payroll tax issues.
Ensure employee tax set-ups and wage adjustments are accurately recorded in the payroll system and are yielding the correct tax withholdings.
Create and review a variety of payroll tax integrity reports
Monitor payroll tax filing and calculations to ensure balancing of tax records.
Assist with the daily funding requirements.
Monitor and audit the monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings prepared by ADP
Ensure that the tax reconciliation process yields accurate annual statements of earnings (W-2, W-2pr, T4s and RL1s).
30% Research & Analysis
Investigate and resolve tax notices in a timely manner to minimize the risk of potential interest and penalty liabilities.
Perform complex tax reconciliations between ADP and Workday to ensure that quarterly tax filings are being sent to federal, state and local taxing authorities.
Research and assist with efforts to implement new tax jurisdictions and legislative changes by:
Developing business requirements
Assist with defining the test plan, ensuring the expected results are demonstrated through the testing process, and verifying the business change is correctly implemented
Communicate changes to associates affected by change.
Assist with set-up and loading of pre-acquisition data related to mergers and acquisitions.
Assists Manager in the development and implementation of payroll business processes.
Assist with test cases and test plans that are needed to validate that systems compute and behave properly.
Executes test cases and monitor success and failure throughout the development life cycle.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Some college coursework
- 2-5 years related experience required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Working knowledge of US, Puerto Rico and Canadian payroll tax regulations
Strong computer skills preferred
Understanding of regulatory and legislative guidelines
Excellent documentation and communication skills required
Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written, and other communication skills
Self-motivated, creative problem solver with good time management skills, the ability to meet deadlines and strong attention to detail
Ability to grasp concepts quickly, demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Understanding of payroll, tax, and accounting and/or related subject matter
