Overview & Responsibilities
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Communications Specialist is part of the Internal Communications team and works to ensure accurate, timely, consistent communication while also maintaining the Company’s intranet. In addition, the position helps set the strategic direction for the intranet, provides technical leadership, and helps manage the site’s governance, including quality, standards, processes and procedures.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Intranet Content Development & Maintenance – 65%
Assist in creating, uploading and maintaining content on the intranet.
Develop new ways to utilize the intranet and recommend enhancements to improve communications with associates and increase usage.
Use knowledge of the intranet and all of its functions to train others as well as ensure understanding of this communication tool.
Manage relationships with content publishers, answer questions and respond to feedback regarding the intranet.
Analyze metrics to understand associates’ behaviors and interests. Use that information to help the Internal Communications team improve editorial planning and storytelling on the intranet.
Internal Communications – 35%
Support the Internal Communications team in editorial planning and finding ways to tell SCI stories in meaningful ways.
Create engaging, relevant messages that motivate employees to take action.
Engage with business and project leaders, develop communication strategy for specific initiatives and serve as an expert resource.
Ensure best in class communications and tools. Brings fresh approaches to communication channels.

Requirements & Qualifications
Education :
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism or related field
Experience:
- Three to five years of professional experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong team player with excellent writing, editing and project management skills.
Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media in a manner that engages associates and helps them understand and retain the message.
Must know AP Style and be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), SharePoint and Google Analytics.
Proficient organizational and problem solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple, overlapping, and potentially conflicting priorities.
Ability to respond favorably to creative differences of opinion and to handle stress in a manner acceptable to others.
